Commonwealth of Massachusetts “Patient First” Law

Click to learn more about the Commonwealth of Massachusetts “Patients First” Law that was signed on January 1, 2021 and took effect on January 1, 2022.

Because same day surgery patients do not stay overnight, operating costs for outpatient facilities are much lower than those of a hospital. Cape Cod Eye Surgery & Laser Center charges each patient an all-inclusive facility fee for all procedures provided here. These procedures include operating room costs, supplies, nurses and technicians. Your fee will reflect the efficient design of the Center and will be significantly lower than the cost of the same procedure at a hospital. Your surgeon, your anesthesiologist and other medical consultants will be billed to you separately. You will be charged three different fees, the Surgeon’s fee, the facility fee and an anesthesia fee. If you have any questions regarding these fees, feel free to contact the appropriate office. For anesthesia questions, visit.

If your outpatient procedure is covered by insurance, as most are, the Center will bill your insurance company directly. Please bring your insurance cards with you on the day of your appointment. If your laser or surgical procedure is not covered by your insurance, one of our staff members will contact you prior to your appointment. If you don’t hear from us within one week of your surgery, please call (508) 833 – 8222. If your procedure is not covered, the Center will be happy to arrange a payment plan with you. We also accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express.

We do not accept cash payments.
